If your child likes dinosaurs, then these dinosaur eggs are a great teaching toy.

Kids like to go through phases when they are little as to which toys they like. They will have a favorite toy one week, only to turn to a completely different toy the next week. Some kids will have a favorite toy through their childhood, but that’s generally not the case. It’s totally normal for kids to go through favorite toys pretty regularly. Don’t spend too much money on what you think will be the best toy as they won’t really care.

Find toys that you think will be fun and educational for your kids. They may take to it and really like it, but if not at least there will be a little educational value that they can get out of it. Teaching kids about the world through play is a great way to help them learn. You don’t have to work hard to teach them in this scenario, and they’ll want to learn. It’s a win-win for everyone. Focus on educational toys when you can.

We recently went through a phase of dinosaurs with our youngest son. He really liked dinosaurs, and wanted to play with them all the time. While we had a few dinosaur toys around the house, we wanted to find something that he thought was fun and that would be educational to him as well. Fortunately, finding an educational toy for dinosaurs isn’t too tough in our current day and age.

We ended up finding these dinosaur eggs that are made of a hardened sand with dinosaurs inside of them. They’re basically like finding fossils inside of sand, but there’s actually plastic dinosaurs in the middle of them. These eggs are a cool little idea, and they present a pretty good opportunity to teach your child a little bit about how dinosaurs reproduced, and how we know about dinosaurs.

In terms of the actual eggs, the sand is actually quite hard to get off. You really have to work to open them up. Our older son was able to do it on his own for the most part (once we did the first one together), but our younger son needed a bit of help. We didn’t want him to poke himself and hurt himself while using the tools they have to open the eggs.

Once you get to the actual plastic dinosaur in the middle of the egg, then it’s pretty easy to pull it out. You can run a little water over the dinosaur to wash it off, and now you have a little figurine to match up with the cards that come in the box that name the dinosaur and give a few little facts about the dinosaur. This is a great chance to teach kids of all ages about how long ago dinosaurs actually roamed the earth.

Another way to use these eggs as a teaching tool with your kids is by explaining a little bit about how dinosaurs are found today. Explain how paleontologists dig up fossils from the ground, very carefully, and are able to put the bones together to give us a sense of what dinosaurs looked like millions of years ago - it’s pretty incredible when you think about how much we really know about these creatures considering when they roamed the earth.

Find toys that will help to teach your kids. Whether it’s these dinosaur eggs or something else, teach kids while they play. Get your eggs now.
