Running through sprinklers in the summer is a great way to cool off, and enjoy the outdoors. Get out there with your kids as well.
As the heat of summer continues to be upon us, keeping cool is at the top of everyone’s mind. With pools being questionable with the virus this year, finding ways to cool off in the water at home. Running a sprinkler for your kids is a fun way for them to cool off this summer.
Having a cheap plastic pool at home can also be a lot of fun, but we’ve got one big problem with them at our house - they attract a ton of bees. The kids lose interest really quick when bees are flying around close by. They’d rather just hang out inside than potentially getting stung by a bee. I can’t really blame them either. Having large bodies of water in the heat seems to attract bees like crazy at our house, so we tend to steer clear of them.
Whether you’ve got a bee problem, or just want to enjoy the water while not taking up space in your backyard, sprinklers are a great option. Kids can enjoy them for a bit of time, and once they’re done running around in them, the water is turned off and you don’t have to worry about it.
If you already have sprinklers installed in your yard, then you don’t even have to do anything special to get your kids running around in the water. Turn them on, and let the kids run wild. Be careful to not let them run too long in the water though as it will ultimately turn things a bit muddy in the yard, which you really don’t want.
If you don’t already have sprinklers installed, then running a hose with a basic sprinkler attached to it is a great option as well. In fact, I bought a sprinkler that I attach to the hose even though I have sprinklers in the yard. The biggest upside to this is that you can move the sprinkler to different locations in the yard, and you don’t waste near as much water.
There are a lot of different options for sprinklers you can buy. When I was young, we always had the sprinklers that went back and forth in the yard. Something that moves on its own is generally best as the kids will like to try to run around and avoid it while it moves. While they can do this same thing with a non-moving sprinkler, kids will like it even more if it moves around a bit.
Also, if you’re feeling hot, you should get out and join your kid as they run in that water. It’s a lot of fun running through the sprinklers - the wet grass on your feet, and just cooling off from the summer heat. As usual, don’t be afraid to join your child in the fun that they’re having. It's a lot of fun to run around with your kids in the grass as well to relieve stress from whatever is worrying at the moment.
Don’t let the summer heat get you down. Pull out a sprinkler, turn on the water, and let the kids run wild. They’ll be glad to cool off, and you may just want to join them.
