This game is a fun way to play catch without a baseball mitt.

Throwing and catching a ball is a fun activity to do with your child. While many people like to do this with a baseball and baseball mitt, some people simply are not very good with a baseball and for younger kids you may be worried about them not actually being able to catch an extremely hard ball. You could also just use a tennis ball or another soft ball instead of a baseball when they are still little and you don’t want them to get hurt.

For those of us parents that haven’t really spent any time teaching our kids to throw an actual baseball, there’s another option. These sticky paddle balls are an excellent choice if you’re worried about your kids getting hurt with a regular baseball or if you simply want an easier way for them to actually catch the ball. This toy will eliminate several of the concerns you may have about a baseball and mitt, but give a similar type of experience.

First off, the ball that you use is quite soft. You don’t have to worry about a child getting hit with the ball or that a window is going to get broken by some kid throwing the ball at a window (obviously if they’re winding up and throwing the ball at the window, you may find that a window will still be broken). The ball is very similar to a tennis ball in it’s makeup, with the main difference being that the ball has an outside texture made to stick easier to a velcro paddle.

Another reason that this game is great is that it works really well for smaller kids. You don’t have to try to get a mitt on their hand and then have them try to squeeze it closed around a ball. While a child that is five or older may be able to do this pretty easily, a younger toddler will struggle with it. If you want to play with a younger toddler, or if you want more than one kid to play together, then these velcro paddles allow for easy catching of the ball.

Learning to catch the ball is a bit of a trick - it won’t stick no matter what, but it’s pretty good if you’re not rocketing the ball at the paddle. As the ball becomes well used, the ball won’t stick as well, but you can always replace the ball. Ultimately, it’s much easier to catch a ball on one of the paddles than it is in a glove for young kids. If you’ve used a baseball mitt before, it’s easier to use a mitt for adults.

You also can play some other games with these paddles as well - you’re not stuck with just playing a game of catch with them. One of our favorite games to play is where we set the paddles up as targets and we either throw or roll the ball at them to try to get them to stick to the paddle. This is a fun game because it takes skill to aim the ball correctly and throw/roll it with the right force to get it to stick to the paddle. This is also a game you can play alone - kids may find it fun to just roll the ball on their own to get it to stick.

The other game that we like to play with these is to actually try to get the ball to not stick to the paddle. Lay the paddle on the ground face up, and then roll the ball along so that it has to go over the paddle, but doesn’t actually stick to it. This is quite difficult to accomplish. You have to aim the ball correctly while rolling it quite hard. Make sure you do this in a location that you won’t lose your ball because sometimes your kids will roll it a bit too far.

If you’re looking for a fun toy to play with your child outside, thengrab this simple paddle and ball set. There are several games you can play with them, and there’s just something about velcro that seems to enamor kids.
